Does anyone know of any kind of restrictions for solo diving in Bonaire.
Will they rent you tanks and let you solo dive from the boats to Klien Bonaire.
How about in the park.

Put on your gear and go. If boat diving, advise the DM of your plan, but certainly frame it by saying that you'll do the first dive with him as a checkout.

From the shore (in the "park")? Who's gonna know?

Just know when to turn back in-shore when you return.

The only restriction you might run into is that most(all?) of the dive ops are Padi, so they might want to see a solo cert. Although everything's pretty casual there, you do your BMP checkout dive by yourself without even being observed at most places.

I can't answer the solo dive at Klein question, however the fee you pay for diving covers all tanks for the trip/week whatever. So there's no "rental" per se. You only show your c-card once to get your BMP tag, then you can put it away, you'll never need to show it again. I guess I did solo dive a couple times as I was filming in shallow water while the group went their own way, the Toucan Dive captains never seemed surprised to see me show up on my own after having left my buddy with the group.

Which "park". The whole island is the BMP - Bonaire Marine Park - which you can dive in as long as you've paid your $10 BMP tag fee first. And most of the dive ops have unassisted tank pickup locations, some even drive-up, most of them are also 24/7 so basically what you do where is up to you.

If you mean Slagbaai park, chances are good you'll be the only one there most of the time. There's certainly no one doing any checking there, I'm not even sure there's anyone there except near the entrance.

Probably a great place to solo dive too, except for the far north sites off Slagbaai and the far south sites around Lighthouse, there's not a great deal of current typically.

AFAIK, there is no such PADI certification. In fact, PADI discourages solo diving.

You're right of course, I don't know what I was thinking of.

Maybe you just wanted the patch. :dazzler1:

Don't worry, soon enough they'll do it.
