Besides iDive, you can also do this with DiveLog (which I wrote). Like Jose, I haven't tested it specifically with the Stinger, but expect that it will work fine.

You can find DiveLog at http://divelog.actwin.com.

I test it in an iMac G4 with a DIY interface and an usb adapter Keyspan USA-28X, and into a G4 AGP with the same type of interface and adapter. This work for me, but iDive is in beta and have numerous bugs in this version.

I am rewriting part of code.

Also a friend of mine is finishing an usb interface for Suunto and Uwatec dive computers.
Is in this url at this moment

Thank you all for responding to my post. I think I'll try DiveLog (Thanks, Mark!) running under OS X next. I'd prefer not having to use VPC.:-)
I'll keep everyone posted on how that goes. The other thing I was going to try is to get a different serial adapter. The one I currently own is a 10-HS (as in 'high speed'). Maybe that's what's causing the timing issues of VirtualPC detecting trhe adpter and then immediately disconnecting from it. As I wrote earlier: that connect/disconnect things goes on and on and on... hogging so much CPU time that one cannot do anything else for as long as the Keyspan adapter is plugged in.
Once XP is happy with the adapter, then I can deal with SDM - but as of right now, I can't even get Windows XP to properly recognize the adapter.

Jose: I realize iDive is beta and I appreciate everything you have done thus far. I wuld be happy to test any future software of yours. The Suunto cable I bought works fine - as the fact that everything works flawlessly on a PC proofs. At a cost of $20, that's hard to beat.:-)

Thank you all for your help!

Cheers,

Andre

Hello Mark:

Got back from Tahiti (Moorea) a few hours ago. Downloaded and installed your software (beta 3) on my G4/500 Pismo Powerbook. Connected my Keyspan USA-19HS USB/Serial adapter and my clone transfer cable to my Mosquito. Used your software to test the interface. It worked. next, I downloaded the eleven dives I currently have stored in my Mosquito. Everything downloaded just fine. I will add notes etc. and will let you know how that went. So far, so good. Great job! Thanks!

Cheers,

Andre

Thanks for the feedback. I expect to release version 1.0 of DiveLog in the next couple of days.

Hi Mark,

is there any likelyhood of the seiko based computers being included in idive in the future? I'm thinking of the diverite nitek duo/apeks quantum/tusa 700. These have a usb interface that has just been released.

I was wondering if they use the same protocols as any of the other computers you are working on.

Thanks,

Justin.

It's DiveLog, not iDive (a different program, not mine).

I wouldn't rule out Seiko, but they're not high on my list. None of my friends use one, and the local shops don't rent them. It's difficult to do development for them if I've never seen one. None of the manufacturers I've contacted so far have wanted to cooperate with me, so I have to borrow a computer and decode the protocol.

If a manufacturer wanted to help me support their computers, by providing protocol specifications and a loaner computer, I'd certainly get their support in to DiveLog sooner.

Oops, sorry about that, thinking of both programs and got mixed up.

Is there a way I could get the information out of my computer for you and email it. I'd offer to lend you my computer, but I live in Borneo, so it's a bit of a way to send it I'm afraid. However, if you can give me the details on how to get the data from my computer then I could do that and send it to you. I'm hoping to buy the interface while I'm home in the UK at christmas if Apeks have it on release by then.

I'd be happy to help if this would be a workable solution for you.

Cheers,

J.
