soft harness

I have made few BPs from Al, plastic and SS, but I prefer soft harness. Did anyone made it and how?

I know this is a DIY forum, but I believe if there is a commercial product that fits the bill without emptying your pocket you should take a look..

Oxycheq sells the O-pack.. Its not on the web site but shoud be in a few days.. it comes complete with all webbing, hardware and even a padded back...

The amount of work necessary to duplicate the product performance isn't worth the effort to save a few bucks...

I had my parachute rigger make up my harnesses using standard parachute webbing & hardware. The webbing is much softer than the plain polyester or nylon blends normally used on weight belts & dive harnesses.
If you're on a budget here's a good chance you may be able to find some military surplus parachute harnesses to take apart.
If you're going to be using it in saltwater, be sure to check out the hardware to make sure it won't rust away, especially anything with springs.
If you do not have access to a harness sewing machine a hand awl will work, just make sure you use a round needle and not the chisel one used for leather.

My home sewing machine does a good job with two layers of webbing and if I go slow three layers is do-able. I use nylon thread and a round needle.
You could always mock one up with tape to figure out the lengths. The tank strap would be the hard part.

In the UK it is possible to buy the Dragon ASM harness (find it on the Web), but some of us make our own. Easy if you have a sewing machine. If you want measurements/ design, e-mail me via scoff_cavedivinggroup@hotmail.com with the header 'home-made harness', and I will try to assist. The tanks attach to the harness using (1) a jubilee clip and 'snaplink/ karabiner' and (2) some bungee cord and a clip.

It's not about budget (I can get Aqua3 harnes for about 200$).
Diy gear is my hoby and I like diving with my diy gear (till now everithing works great for me) Few BP's,lights,camera housing at the moment I'm working on CCR...

Apologies, the Dragon Harness & my home-made (D-I-Y) harness are both for side mounted tanks for cave diving.

I saw you were from Bled and got to remembering what a beautiful area you live in, and what fun we had diving caves in the Soca Valley in 1990 - in particular in Jama Golobarscek and also Izvir Bocic. If you are a cave diver, e-mail me and let me know what else has been explored in the last few years.

I'm starting with cave diving. Till now I was in few caverns only.
Friend of mine is one of the best here in Slovenija, I'll write a report obout cave explorations for the last year when I came back. Going to Sharm on sunday .
