Thought I'd spread the word on the new version of the SoBig virus, this one being F after A through E, which if on schedule is set to be released September 11. Personally I'm just going to unplug my computer the day before and see what happens. This virus is no joke, read more here .

I was about to say that Sobig.F has been hammering our school's servers for about a week.

Every computer I own either has an Apple logo or a Sun logo <grin>

Sorry guys, had to gloat a bit. Make sure you download those latest patches from Microsoft

Or just run Linux on your Intel box agstreet. Done that since 1992 or 1993.

If I had an Intel box I would probably do that. I've been fortunate in that I've been able to run Solaris on various Sun tools over the years, but if I didn't have that option I would definately be looking at Linux.

Just to take this further off topic :-), which version of Linux do you prefer.

I have a Mac and a PC running Windows 2000 Pro at home and about 200+ PCs here at the bank. This is by FAR the worst virus ever. We were getting 1 infected E-mail a minute here, had to isolate the IP and cut 'em off, for a while. Between SoBig and Blaster this has been patch hell for me since I have to do all the patches/updates for 200+ computers and Microsoft releases about three a week now. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Screw it all, I'm moving to the beach, maybe Belize, and I'm only gonna have a radio made out of a coconut so I can listen to Bob Marley while I'm swinging low in my Mayan hammock, yeah...... that's the life.

why not deply SMS or SUS?

we had Sobig hit at work, only got to about three people (the director, the chairman, and one of the lead traders, why is it the ones with the harvard educations get the virii? :P

Blaster hit hard, but i was on vacation, phew!
amazing how none of my home pcs ever get infected, lol

At the time I looked into it they didn't support NT, we run about 2/3 NT 1/3 2000 right now, so it wasn't an option. What limited stuff I just read on Microsoft's site looked like we may be able to use it now, thanks for the reminder!!:D

Offtopic then it is :-)
For the last couple of years, my distro of choice is gentoo
And before that I was using Redhat, Mandrake, Suse and Slackware...

I'm running it on a server, laptop and desktop (that I dual boot with XP) :-)
