Many people have requested a way to spell check posts but because of current technology and hardware limits we have been unable to provide a good solution within the forums. Well, that doesn't matter any more. Google's new toolbar (beta 3) has a built in form spell checker which works great for posts. It lets you have your own extra language file definitions which makes it far more customizable then a third party program. If you want to try it out go to http://toolbar.google.com/ and download the Beta 3 toolbar. Be warned, this program includes a few features that turn on by default such as a pop-up blocker and auto-link; they can be great tools but they can also interfere with some websites that use pop-up windows for navigation.

This message was spell-a-ma-checked with Google bar 3 (which for some strange reason capitalizes the name "Google").

Great suggestion! There we have it; two options with the same end result. My spelling is so poor I may have to use both

I use the ispell with MS explorer, it does well. However, I have been using Firefox more and more and I like it. Anyone know of a spell checker that is works with Firefox 1.0 and later???

Netscape has one but I am not aware of any way for it to check a post, email yes. If anyone has more info I would love to hear.

Here is a spell check that works with any program. It alerts you by a beep and there is a spelling window you can open on your toolbar. tinySpell. One nice feature is that it is small, only 550k. Fast download.

An alternative checker that I use and has been posted a few times on the board already is "iespell'.

This one installs to the IE navigation bar itself.
The other good think about iespell is that you can right-click in any text box and select "check spelling"
