Saw this article about a class that is raising Abalone for later release and thought some of you might be interested.

"We're going to be raising abalone," student Nathan Cardenas, 12, explained to a visitor. "And we're going to be releasing them into the wild."

Very cool. We did this with salmon when I was in middle school.....awesome learning experience about not only anatomy, but conservation as well.

Nancy Caruso has been doing some great educational programs with school kids about our oceans and the need to conserve. Whoever thought 40-50 years ago we'd not be able to harvest abalone. Got tired of eating them back then! Great to see them making a slow comeback.
