Hey, Im a new member. I got certified last week and i havent made a dive since. I will probably go make a dive tomorrow but i dont have a dive buddy. Do you think i will be risking it, if i go at it alone?

Don´t go alone. Ask at your LDS for someone to dive with.

Solo diving is generally not a recommended practice... especially for a new diver with zero logged dives. If the fit hits the shan and your all alone, then what? Do yourself a favor and find a buddy. I'd hate to read about you in the newspaper.
If solo diving is something that interests you, get lots of experience, get rescue certified, and get Solo Diver training. Please don't put yourself in this position without the training and experience.

I would not dive alone just yet. Get some Exp first, your lds should be able to put you with a groop that is diving the same day and you will dive a threesome. Diving is more fun when shared with others.

I must agree with the above posts. Just wait for solo diving until you have more experience. You should get the experience and then do solo diving with the right equipment. There are plenty of divers ready to dive at a moments notice. You can also ask your local dive shop and they could ask a few people around.

I agree DO NOT DIVE ALONE

I just took out a OW certified diver, she had about 12 dives. This diver bolted when we were about 30 feet down. She felt like she was not getting air. I was able to grab her and slow her down so she did not hurt herself, but if she was by herself who knows what could have happened. (diver went back down and ended up holding my hand the whole time)

I always dive with a buddy, I think everyone should.

Don't do it. we got enough dead divers this past year..

Fill out your profile, or let us know where you are in SoCal, and you might find a buddy here.

For example, two of my three usual dive buddies are benched for medical reasons, and I'm looking for another buddy, too :-)
