I'm putting together a dedicated SNUBA Hookah hose rig that will use a tank on the surface for air. If I'm using a tank, do I need a filter inline in the air hose? Thanks.

I've always been interested in how the ambient pressure things works with that system

I have no experience with modern systems but have studied it for a while. People who do use them regularly have told me that the standard regulators with an IP of approx. 140 psi are good to about thirty feet. Longer hoses result in a delay in the breath as the pressure sags and then builds back up.

I've wondered if turning the IP pressure up a little bit would help with restricted air flow at depth? Honestly, I'm not even sure if it's a problem. I would think that an adjustable second stage would help with that.?
So, do I need a filter?

My air supply will be a tank so that's clean air but I'm still going to install a filter anyway. I got to thinking about debris peeling off of the inside of the air hose. Yuch! So I'll install a filter right at the splitter where my regulator attaches.

Use the right breathing grade hose that will not shed debris. Anything less is asking for serious medical issues. Don't mess around.

Yeah, I am using a breathing grade air supply hose but debris is still possible. I'd rather not have some chunk of crap foul by regulator so I'll use a filter.

Well now that is something to consider. it's a brand new hose. I think maybe I'll try it, since it's already paid for but I will be prepared to remove it. Thanks for the heads up.
