I'm a Fish!
Another aandtsociety snorkelling trip.

I suppose every one has herd of snorkelling with dolphins and would like to!

Well this isn't that, this is snorkelling with a mantis shrimp, a very big mantis shrimp.

This one came up at me just after I got a bit of film when I first saw it in 28 feet of water.

It than followed under me for a while and than sat and watched me, not a good feeling; these things can do some serious damage.

They can club you with there ivory club, than spike or cut you, all in the blink of an eye, plus they are capable of breaking the glass on a fish tank.

Not a good snorkeling buddy!

Thats mean!

What harm could a poor little cudly mantis shrimp do?

Kill absolutely every thing if it was big enough.

I remember seeing a special on these a few years back and how they are classed as one of the most affecient killers on the planet.

If it had the size, far more dangerous than a white pointer.

I more so prefer it in a mornay sauce,we get the big white ones here as a by catch off the prawn trawlers.

A little tough but a lots of flavour.:D

Supposedly this species can attain nearly double this size.

The really big ones are only found by trawlers normally they say.

imagine the damage a full size one could do to us!

wtf --- freaky for sure !!! i hope these mantis shrimps are not in abundance dos not bare to think what they would do :blinking:l sounds like a horror movie to me . . imagine having that hanging off you . lol .........

We as a club do a lot of trips to collect our own marine aquarium species here in the south east and see many interesting things along the way if any one is keen to look at what we get and interact with than the clubs forum is the link that follows.

The trips are for only registered members on the forum to see.

Each trip and there are a lot in there have all pics and videos of what we get see and where we go,to some degree, each thread of the many that starts with collecting has pics and videos, it will take you for ever to look through them as there are 5 to 20 pics and videos per thread in the clubs collecting forum section.

There are also a couple of the scuba trips we do in the water sports section as well.
