I’m UK-based & really keen for some shark action hoping for a few different species. But I’m not a diver and not sure I’m ready to train. I figured a snorkelling shark safari in the Red Sea (nearest global ‘hotspot’, cheap packages available) might be a good idea. I’ve only been snorkelling a few times so would be looking at beginner to intermediate - nothing difficult.

I’ve a tonne of questions from safety to potential itineraries, operators and/ or buddies but has anyone got experience of anything similar?

TIA

You would have to go offshore to somewhere like the Brothers at the right time of year to stand a reasonable chance of seeing a shark and then most likely, it would be an oceanic whitetip. A species which regularly visits the surface. They are an inquisitive and sometimes dangerous species. I've snorkelled with them myself at the Brothers when I was younger and more foolhardy. Not sure I would do it now. I have a feeling that snorkelling the offshore islands was banned, but can't find anything to confirm that. Regardless, visiting places like the Brothers is done via liveaboard. It would be an expensive trip, conditions may not be suitable for snorkelling and it's quite possible that you might not see any sharks.
