Smart Com IR Question

I am a bit dim when it comes to computers. Hope someone can help.

I have a Smart Com and a Toshiba Laptop (satellite p10-804) which has an infrared port. I have switched the IR port on the laptop on and have switched on the smart com.

In smart trak I have tried to transfer dives and the laptop and smart com are not connecting. Do I need something else to make this work? I thought I just had to line up the IR port on the laptop with the smart com. Where is the IR port on the Smart com, by the way - what way should I line it up?

I am sure there is an easy answer to this and that I am doing something very stupid :wave-smil

Have you tried lifting up the plastic screen guard? It's probably possible to make the connection without lifting it but I always do it out of habit, and it generally works. Can also depend on the distance between the two units as well, I usually have them very close together, less than 5cm. Good luck, hope you manage to get things working.

Thanks Badger - it works! I didn't know that the plastic screen lifted. Didn't see it in the manual. It all works fine now. Now to get some dives on it!!!!
