Small rigs, great for travel, not so great for steady footage.

Big housing/camcorder vs. small.

I've gotten amazing footage with my big FX7 system. However, being so big and heavy, I decided to get a Ikelite housing for my little HV10, for less serious shooting and ease of traveling.

What I forgot was just how difficult it is to shoot steady footage with a small system. It's a PITA !!! And man do I miss my external monitor. It's pretty tough to stay perfectly still while holding the housing up to eye level and keeping the subject framed.

I have big respect for people shooting good steady video from small systems. I frankly do not have the skills.

A couple more trips with it and you'll have it mastered no doubt!

By the way Ron, how did you like Bonaire?

I know Gombessa uses an Flip ultraHD. I'm considering duplicating his system as well. It's cheap and easy to replace if it floods and from the video he takes, its pretty acceptable.

Bonaire is April next year. The big boy is going on that trip.

If you ever want to get some great footage of seahorses, go to the Reef House Resort in Roatan and Davit will find you plenty. We were there last month and some dives he was finding 4 and 5 on a dive. I always thought Bonaire was good for seahorses until I dove with Davit!
