Hi people, I've read somewhere that it's wise to lube the o-rings of the passing controls of any UW housing from the inside with liquid silicone.
I cannot find any liquid silicone but a 1/4 galon bottle. There is a silicone spray, but that´s not what should be needed. Besides, I do not want to buy a 1/4 galon bottle just to puor several drops in my housing.
Does any one know where and what brand of liquid silicone should I buy ?

go to ikelite.com and under accessories is the little tubes......

I assume this is what you are looking for: Mcnett Silicone Pump 8Oz @ Divers-Supply.com (based on the recommendations from Underwater Camera Maintenance) It is recommended however to use it on the outside rather than the inside.

The better dive shops should have it because it is also has a number of other scuba uses including wet suit seals. Smallest bottle is 8 ounces (237ml). Be sure and shake off all excess so sand doesn't stick.

Some threads have also suggested Tribolube-71 (Thread: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/canon-corner/366074-canon-housing-lubricant.html et al.) It is teflon based lubricant rather than silicon based one.

@emoreira: Just to clarify, you're talking about the small black (rather hard) o-rings that are part of the button assemblies on the WP-DC12 case, right?
Those are the o-rings that fit at the bottom of the button chamber.

I have the identical camera (Canon A570IS) and UW housing (WP-DC12).
I've done a couple of rounds of routine maintenance on those o-rings on my UW housing and my girlfriend's UW housing (same model).
For those o-rings, I've always used food-grade Trident brand silicone lube. I have a 2 oz. container that I bought for $8. The Trident part number is LP20. I also have a smaller 1/4 oz. container of the same stuff (LP21) in my save-a-dive kit. Seems to work fine.

You could use Tribolube 71. I'm sure it would work fine, but why waste the good stuff (O2-compatible lube) on a camera button o-ring that doesn't need it?

I use this on my Canon G10 housing and used it previously on my Olympus housings. I place one drop from a toothpick into the EXTERNAL portion of the control plungers then push the buttons several times to work the silicone into the O-rings. You should be able to get it at a dive shop.
