I am curious about what is the best, lightweight regulator. My mouth isn't very big
and I'd like to feel more comfy. I know there are orthodontic mouthpieces,
but what regulator is the best?: What about Micra cousteau, Oceanic ??
And, What is the best ladies BC??? I intent to buy mid-range, not el cheapo, but not
the most expensive either.
Thanks

What kind of diving do you expect to be doing?

I ask, because many of the people who do, or think they will be doing, technical diving (wreck, cave, etc.) would never recommend certain regulators.

I would think your BEST bet would be to get an orthadontic mouthpiece. BUT with that said, I do dive with Dacor regulators and their Viper is small and compact.

My primary is a Fury not a Viper, but my octo is. I have breathed off the Viper at depth and have no problems with it.

Look in to it, and as many would say, try it before buying whenever possible. --Starfish

Wa'll, shut my mouth. You might want to take a look at the side breathing Oceanic Omega which is discussed on another thread. That thing is light as a feather and has an "ortho" mouthpiece, but I don't know how big it is.

Hi there,

I use a ScubaPro S600 regulator attached to a ScubaPro (first stage) MK25. We recently bought these, and totally love them.

I have also purchased a juvinile-sized mouthpiece that is permanently attached to my second stage, and to my husband's Octo for me to use if needed. The normal-sized mouthpieces make my mouth & gums sore, and I can't close my lips over them (which makes me inhale water with every breath).

Still looking for a BC built for 5'0 people. :)

A "juvenile mouthpiece"? I had two of those but they grew up and went to college.

I invested in a seacure and haven't regretted it in the least. I also have a small mouth ( according to the dentist, anyway) and always felt sore and tender in the gums after diving. Two days of multiple dives in a row finally made me take notice and action. I fiqure if your going to invest the bucks it takes to enjoy this sport what's another thirty bucks. My jaw fatique also became a thing of the past. If you are still shopping for a reg you may want to pay attention to what you put your seacure on. Different sizes fit different regs. I bought one that will fit either of the two regs I am considering. One being the Oceanic Omega 2. I am investigating that piece of equipment currently.I keep asking questions on that one in the equipment forum.

Buy an Atomic B1/T2 with a SeaCure mouthpiece. They are custom fit. The Atomic second stage is very light and comfortable.

We did too - and one of them has actually outgrown that stage!

Soon, we'll have more money for diving gear.

Vic,

I have often heard about your issue and a lot of people recommend an older Mares mouthpiece as well as it was smaller and does not protude as far into your mouth - it may be more for gag issues thoguh - but worth looking up...

With a "UL" (Ultra light) first stage. Amazingly light. Just take in your hand and any other regulator you want in the other hand and compare them.

You can change the mouthpiece to whatever you want.
