My brother just gave me his skinny dipper computer that hasn't seen water for 15+ years. I've been using the datamax pro and wanted to carry a non-air intergrated computer for a back up. I googled skinny dipper and found this blog. thanks for the information. The orginal batteries still work but I will order new ones from EVS supply (if they still have em) thanks Marek. Any informatoin on this computer, pros or cons, would be appreciated. thanks...Jeffray

You're welcome, Jeffray.

The biggest pro is that you've already got the computer.

Another pro is that the batteries seem to last forever.

Con's? Lots of them.

-- The biggest problem is the fact that you have to remember to turn it on every time before descending. It won't turn on once you're underwater. That's the reason my son stopped using it, in favor of a modern hockey-puck type.

-- Size.

-- The o-ring on the plug/switch needs to be kept an eye on, seeing as it's dynamic; I think there was an improved switch produced at some point.

-- The fact that you probably don't have the user's manual for it. (I received a soft copy from someone several years ago, but don't know what I did with it. The computer is pretty straightforward, though; the most puzzling part is the start-up display scroll, as it calibrates, checks battery voltage, etc.)

As a back-up, I think the fact that you've already got it out-weighs the con's!

I have/had a skinny dipper and broke the battery door. I have some new/unused batteries if you're interested.

found the batteries at the local battery stores, Vargas for 6.99. Don't really need this computer since I have already purchased a back up (Geo watch type). If anyone is interested in the skinny dipper..let me know. I have the owner's manual also
