I agree this was most likely not a skin bend but would also like to point out the current treatment method for skin bend or DCS type I is treatment as a DCS type II symptom.

It is treated with HBO, in most cases if there is signifigant gas in solution in the divers tissues to present as a symptom of skin bends then there is a signifigant chance that more severe symptoms will follow...

That is correct Jeff, but the skin bend more likely to require HBO is cutis marmorata, which this lady rash seemed like. Regular skin bends, a mottling rash on the shoulder, arm, neck, or small patches on the torso ... and often itchy ... tend to self resolve within 24 h, and typically within 1-3 hours after surfacing.

Cutis progresses and grows quickly when it occurs, and is often followed by DCS 1 & 2 symptoms.

Hi Dr Steve:

Glad to hear of the healing of the toe. I was away the last couple of days from my office and did not catch this message.

As the others responded, these are pretty simple gas loads and one would not expect a true DCS (gas loading) problem to appear.

A rash ffrom the water or a sprain is a better guess.
