HELP!! I hope I can get some quick replies on this as my problem will need to be sorted out soon.

After getting addicted to Diving and getting Open Water Certified in Dec, I decided to buy my own gear. I got a package from my local dive store and am very ,very happy with everything except for the BCD.

I'm 5'1" tall, weigh between 110 and 125 lbs depending on fitness (!) waist 26-28 inches (again depending on fitness) and bust 36".

The Dacor Xtremelle BC (the type with the neoprene vest) has a label that says "L". I queried this in the store, but the owner said it stood for "Ladies" and would be OK. It wasn't until I got the gear home, installed weights and tried on the BCD with my thin wetsuit that I started to think this is too big for me.

Can anyone confirm this size problem or otherwise, based on experience? I'll need to take it back and discuss an alternative soon. I don't mind spending more money to get something that is right for me.

I can't find any size charts for the Dacor Xtremelle, but size charts for the Dacor Extrem suggest I should wear a Small. I'll also be wearing the BCD with a 6.5mm wetsuit with 6.5mm shortie over the top.

Can anyone suggest an alternative BCD and the correct size? After looking on the web I'm thinking of 1. Dacor Extrem 2. Genesis Athena 3. Mares Dragonfly.

Cheers!

He lied through his eye teeth. A friend of mine has an Extremelle. I believe hers is a medium, but I'm not entirely sure. I have put a call into her to verify what size she wears. She is a little taller than you are.

I checked on the Scubatoys website and the Extremelle does come in sizes S, M, and L. The one they show is the Airtrim version but the fit should be the same. I put the link to them below.

I just got word from my friend regarding her Extremelle. Hers is the traditional version (non-Airtrim) and it is a Small. She is 5'3" and about 120lbs (it fits her snug) so I would guess (I use that term loosely) that you might even wear the medium considering you sound as if you are bigger through the chest than she is. This guy sounds like quite a few of the dive shop operators I'm sorry to say. There are some good ones but they seem to be hard to find.

Definitely go get your money back, and consider going somewhere else, or maybe online if you want. Remember that what feels snug on the surface will loosen up quite a bit from compression.

Have fun and good luck.

I have the same Dacor Xtremelle BCD (air-trim model), I'm 5' & have the same measurements (36DD) and weight, my vest is a Medium and fits great. I use the add on vest and have dove with 3mm, 5mm & 7mm without a problem with the vest being too tight. The "L" stands for large, mine has an "M" on both the BCD and the Vest. I had a Mares Vera that was too big and chafed when wearing a 3mm shorty.
