Many of the Gili's dive sites are maybe the most benign in Indonesia. Seriously, of all the places to bring a new diver in Indonesia, the Gili's are a great choice. Han's Reef, Meno Wall, the bio rocks in front of Gili T., etc... are all very suitable for new divers. Heck, Han's is usually the go to spot for many shops on Gili Air for dive 1 in OW class and DSDs.

FWIW- You might do some research using more local websites- the big players in the Gilis (Blue Marlin and Manta Dive) have a great online presence. The website you are using...ummm...maybe a good starting point, but really not that accurate. Suggesting to keep an eye out for mantas at Han's Reef is pretty much beyond wishful thinking, but you will get your fill of turtles!

Hi, I'm an instructor on Gili T and a lot of the dive sites are suitable for OW divers. The top sites are shark point, manta point, haliks and Hans reef. Other popular ones are meno wall and bounty. So there are sites suitable for OW with only a few that you need to be more advanced for such as deep turbo. Lots of turtles here too. So good diving all around for OW divers.
