Guests visiting Sipadan Water Village in 2012 were treated a variety of incredible encounters. While the resort is primarily known for its amazing house reef, Paradise One, last year scuba diving guests reported seeing whale sharks, hammerheads and other large pelagics not normally seen in the local waters.
According to Vickie Coker, Marketing Director for Sipadan Water Village, It was an amazing year for seeing new and different creatures. Guests have come to expect spectacular sights including thorny seahorses, clown frogfish and even a few giant frogfish in our house reef. But whale sharks and hammerheads? Thats something new and unique. Were looking forward to those large visitors returning in 2013 and beyond.
Coker, who also operates Travel Masters in Texas, added that when unique critters and animals are spotted, the photography staff at Sipadan Water Village are quick to share the images via social media and the resorts website.
Common sightings in the area include a wide variety of nudibranches and shrimp, ghost pipefish, giant mantis shrimp and huge turtles are seen virtually everyday.
Sipadan Water Village is a highly unique and built over water on stilts made of Belian Wood commonly called ironwood.
