I plan on splitting my stay there. Seaventure for some days (maybe 3?) and then 4 more days somewhere with "firm ground" to also being able to relax on the beach a bit. I was told scuba junkies has some divemasters I cannot miss not getting to know. The over-water bungalows look appealing too though, cause it looks like a once in a lifetime thing....

Midget, where did you find cheaper rates?
and standard chalets, if they are not over the water, doesn't that defeat the purpose? I guessed that's why its expensive?

All chalets at Mabul Water Bungalows are over the water. Maybe Midget is talking about the sister resort SMART? I went over there a couple of times and it is a nice area but didn't see the accommodations. I booked through Dive the World after getting a few quotes but have only done two dive trips so would take any pricing advice from me with a grain of salt. :)

But guys... are these prices for real? they seem incredibly high!

Tariff - Explore Asia Tours Sdn Bhd

So for 3days, 2 Nights, its US$1,150.00 per diver???

That price is for Mabul Water Bungalows.
The sister resort.....SMART......is the price I quoted in the earlier post.

Instead of Mabul Water Bungalows, look at Kapalai for an over the water chalet. It is a gorgeous resort and less than MWB.

I have read quite a few bad things about Kapalai... I guess for when you're NOT diving at Sipadan, Mabul is the better place to stay at, more to do and better sites to dive - well, from what I gathered anyways. Diving is still Prio No1 for our trip, so I'd rather say goodbye to the chalets hehehe.
