How long does anyone think that one should wait untill diving after a sinus infection? Just finshed Antibiotic today.

Been there, done that. I had an infection in late may, finished my meds on 10 June and was diving on the 16th. I waited till then to ensure I was over it and my sinus well drained.

Question to be answered is, is your head clear? Any conjestion? Are you still coughing stuff up or gaging?

There's a trick my doctor used to see if my sinuses are clear - you can do it yourself with an assistant. You need a darkened room and a pen flashlight. Open your mouth wide, and have your assistant hold the light against your face, about an inch below your eye. It should be pointed toward the inside of your mouth. Looking inside your mouth, he should be able to see the light shining through your head (isn't that cool?). If the sinus is still full of infected fluid, the light will be blocked. If the infection was only on one side of your face, have him switch sides to see the difference between the clear side and the infected side.

This of course only applies to the sinuses between your eye and cheek.

Thanks for the info, very interesting tip with the flashlight.
I guess I will have to dive vicariously through scuba board for a few more days though.
