I have had sinus problems all my life. Thankfully they are now controlled enough so I can dive. I remember being told that if you dive with sinus problems you can end up with a blow out and blood and gunk in your mask. So I'm thinking - why is this a problem? It's got to be less painful than having a sinus scrape (thankfully I have experienced neither) and it cleans out your sinuses.

I have a friend who was a UDT and their response to having a reverse block was to go shallow and let the sinus tissues be "blown out".

He said it filled the mask with blood, and was considered unfortunate but not a big deal.

Of course, these are military folks.

I have read that repeated incidents can lead to scar tissue forming and that this increases the risk of a repeat incident.
