Hi ThierryA, in addition to all the tips above (including names of capital & cities etc), just thot i'd add a note or 2; dive season is nearing its tail end for the Malaysia islands.. u can try tioman, pulau dayang, pulau aur and further north there's redang island.. all these can be accessed on a typical 2 day weekend, tho for redang i'd recommend at least 3-4 days mininum as its further up north.
There are lotsa dive operators in Singapore u can hook up with; Diventures, Simplyscuba, Orpheus, Friendly Waters etc.. i wont pick any particular one as im not associated with any of them, rather just wanted to give u some names so u can search their respective websites on the net and see what they have to offer, prices etc..
They all have the usual dive package trips and offer dive gear for either xtra rental or all inclusive in the trip price (i recommend u bring ur mask+wetsuit)..
Hope u like Singapore when u get here, and happy diving :)

Hi ThierryA

There's plenty of fab diving in the neighbouring countries, eg. Malaysia (Layang-Layang, Sipadan, Mabul in East Malaysia and Redang, Aur, Perhentian in West Malaysia), Thailand (Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Tao), Indonesia (Manado, Bali, Lombok).

Check out these Singapore dive shops for trips to the above & more:
