Yep, same thing i experienced with the over crowding. There aren't a ton of dive sites so everyone and their brother goes to the same one. We had a few on our dive with less than 30 dives who clearly were still working on their buoyancy. Lots of flailing. No good for vis either.

You can do the Similans w/ a speed boat but it takes I think 1.5 hours each way to get there so it is possible but it's your call if you want to do it that way or not. I wasn't all that impressed w/ the diving and it wouldn't warrant 3 hours of travel to see it.

Not just speedboat, also bigger boats go there on a daily basis for 2 or 3 dives.

True, but that's a choice. The option is there, so saying 'you can go by speedboat' might give a wrong impression.
