Hello all....leaving for Thailand tonight.

Anyone know what the conditions are like at the Similans? TIA

The first trips have been excellent: reasonably flat seas, eagle rays, whale shark at Richelieu Rock, all kinds of other sharks, lots of macro life and excellent visibility.

Can't say we had the pleasure of seeing whale sharks. I think that may be a stretch. The only sharks seen on my trip were a few leopard sharks. The vis was good, 25-30 in most places. Choppy seas on the last few days and very little sunshine. Still worth going of course!

Watch out for the nasty fishing lines around Richelieu. Hopefully they will all be gone soon. Make sure you bring a dive knife as this can be a real issue at safety stops.
