On the back of my BC, there is the big, main strap that locks the BC to the tank, but there is also another smaller shorter strap above the main strap.

I kinda assumed that the small one was for putting around the 1st stage as a sort of safety, but it's too short. I thought it might be for hanging it up, but then why make it adjustible?

Am I missing something?

Mikey,

If I'm not mistaken, the strap to which you refer is used as a setting device so that the diver will locate the b/c on the tank in the same position every time in order not to affect his/her trim.

the K

I put it around the valve to keep the BC at the right height before tightening the tank straps. Thats all I use it for.

Cheers

My BC (Knighthawk) has the same thing. I loop it around the neck of the tank valve. You adjust it (usually just once in a lifetime) so that when the BC hangs on the tank, it will be at a height that is optimal for you after strapping the tank in.

That's what I use it for as well. Mine is set to hold my BC at the correct place on the tank before I clamp it down.

since you said it was too short to go around the first stage(and this is just how I do it) but i normaly put the regs on last... just slip it over the k valve and then put the regs on top.

hope that helps :)

I have a tank strap (Scubapro) on my BC that actually works, so that extra strap is useless. I never use it for anything.

Ok, so to follow up....

What is the correct height of my tank on my back?

Thanks!

realy it is what ever height(and you will have to experiment) you can comfortably look forward while horizontal. also, if you feel pushed foward when you have it as high as it will go without hitting you then you can slide it back until you feel balanced

hope that helps :)
