.......the H2yo is a handiery size and costs about half as much.

Try both you will find yourself wanting to give your Trident away but everyone trying to talk you out of the H2yo.

Dave

He's absolutely right - H2Yo is pretty cool. I have one and love it. It's just loud enough and not annoying.

I have a very simple solution to this problem. I use an Eye Bolt tied with a nylon string as a tank banger. I tie one end to the bottom D-Ring on my BC and the other end to the loop on the Eye Bolt and then just slide it under the cumberbund to keep it out of the way. IMO the best feature to this set-up is you that you can adjust the "volume" by hitting harder or softer, depending on the situation.

I realize that this is definately NOT DIR, but it works...

After you do a thousand or so dives you will not care if anybody else sees it. As long
as you do!!!

I just made a rattle, too.

I used a chunk of 1-1/4" threaded PVC, about 3" long, put teflon tape on the threads, enclosed some spare computer screws, then screwed end caps on. It works great!

Stop and think what those homemade underwater noisemakers look like. Now think about what they look like to a TSA baggage screener. :11:
that's exactly why I chose plastic... all I could find originally is galvanized steel end caps... and that was exactly my fear!

Besides, there's no detonator!

...........I have tried several noise makers both comercial and homemade. This one is great. It is nice and small with a big noise. The only problem is everytime I travel I end up giving it away. I have bought 6 of these in the last year.

I have just bought two. Small and nice, we will see how they will behave underwater. Could you tell me please how and where do you attach it?

Cheers,
Sebastian.
