Hi Everyone,

I’ve got a new ScubaPro Hydros Pro BCD, I’m trying my best to setup my gear so it’s streamlined for good trim. But I’ve got a bit of stuff to bring on dives (SMB & Finger Reel, Torch, GoPro on a stick). I also have a tank pod so my SPG is a backup so I’d like that and the octo to be really cleanly routed and out of the way.

So far, I’ve purchased a thigh pouch for the SMB so that it’s not dangling. I’ve got clips for the octo and spg. But not really sure if I like the thigh pouch and what to do with the flashlight and go pro.

I seem to find recommendations for bungee loops, webbing, shock cord, horizontal pouch, and ScubaPro Ninja Pocket. But I’m not really sure what most of these would look like in practice. I would like to ask the community here, if you have a nice streamlined setup, how did you pull it off? I would love to see pictures of your gear.

I'm not familiar with that BCD, but if it has a crotch strap, then add a butt plate. I use it as a main clip point for a lot of those things.

Here’s an example of what @lexvil is referring to. My has rubber loops, but just substitute bungee, tying the bungee off so it’s tight enough that the light stays in place, but you can remove and replace it without too much trouble.

Ok, why can’t I seem to be able to insert thumbnail photos!?!?!?

Erik

never mind, figured it out, sorry for the rant, ok, thanks,

erik

@lexvil, does that have a hard plate, or soft? Wondering if he can use a bag attached to the plate for the dsmb. It doesn’t seem to have a crotch strap, so this would seem the next best option to what @The Chairman is recommending.

The hydros is a good B/C but it has some limitations, I’ve sold mine and just do bp/w again. The hydros has a ridged plastic backplate and can accommodate a crotch strap, the D rings are small but are generally adequate for a few things clipped off, the webbing is soft so it’s best (as far as I was concerned) to tie some small bungee into loops for securing gear leaving the loop loose and leaving a knot for something to grab to resecure things like the light if you were to use it.

The trick is to think about what you want to carry and find a way to put it where it will be useable without worrying about how it looks.

I put a crotch strap on mine for the DPV, no problem. The Hydros doesn't need the crotch strap by design, but I put one on after I got my dpv. The Hydros is very adjustable and customizable. I can attach anything I need to it while being secure and organized.

I found out from SP tech services that I can change the whole harness to make the Hydros a smaller size if I lose a lot of weight and needed a smaller size BC without needing to buy a whole new BC.

The only complaint, if you want to call it a complaint, is that the shoulder d-rings are somewhat small. I fixed that easily by replacing them with 2-inch circular steel rings. It's a beautiful solution with no issues doing it.
