Should I leave this LDS?

LDS was well within their rights and a credit for the fill seems fair. The judgement call you have to make is whether IYO they value the custom you bring them as much as you think it is worth. If you think not then you you might want to move but first ask yourself whether you'll get better service elsewhere.

Why are you the guy posting the question instead of the co-worker who had the incident? Sounds (IMHO) like you are setting yourself up as the totally unnecessary middleman between several friends & a business. It should not reflect on you if the others are unsatisfied, but by taking on the role of go-between, you are in a bad position from both ends.

Suppose that one of your friends damages a piece of rental gear & does not mention it to you. You are standing there taking the rap when the clerk writes up a charge slip for the damage. If it were me, I would back off a lot, let the gang stop in unaccompanied for their stuff, & if they have a complaint about the service, they can find another shop themselves. Not your problem. I am saying this as someone who got burnt out years ago trying to be "helpful" for people who just never got "grateful."

Again thanks for the input. As I stated in the opener, I use this shop because it is very convenient. I have a shop near my house where I do all of my own business. I have another friend who is starting his OW cert there today. After reading everyones post it is obvious that I should not have been surprised at all about the lack of refund. I will continue have my friends go there when they need gear for the post-work dives.

with most of the group here. Stay with them, they offered something.... most places will offer nothing. They sound like a good dive shop.
