I checked out DAN. I think I'm out of luck. My doc said my problem is similar to Menierres disease and according to DAN it is contraindicative but for different reasons. It is due to vertigo and possible panic and disorientation. I couldn't find a link for docs in my area, am I not looking in the right place?
BTW We'll be in Ft. Lauderdale in Sept. Hoping I have clean bill of health, so I can dive.

:dazzler1: My ear cleared. I'm not sure exactly what combination worked, held nose, closed throat, swallowed and slightly exhaled through closed nose and wala. Now how do I do all that with a mask on and a regulator in mouth. I'm still going to a doc though. Darn I wish I had a pool to practice in. :dazzler1:

If it is Meniere's, there are solutions which give relief in some cases. Don't expect to hear about some from the ENT, but it is out there - find a homeopath in your area. (We've had experience with this.)

If that's not your thing, try this:

Remember that just because one or two or three doctors don't know how to help you, there are a lot of docs out there. Even a good one doesn't know everything about everything. You just have to find one that has experience with your problem and has been able to help.

Googling for "Meniere's scuba" finds this:

A bit from this one that caught my eye:
"If you do decide to try then common sense would suggest that you start shallow, for a short period and have a buddy to assist in the event of problems. If all is fine, increase the duration and then increase the depth according to how you feel. If excessive concern over having an attack makes your dive stressful, then you may want to find another pastime. On the other hand, maybe the fish and the coral will take your mind off your ears."

It is amazing how much of the latter occurs.

Much luck,
John
