Hello, looking for short neck valves/manifold for my al-80 doubles.
Currently using thermo long neck valves.
any recommendation?
How good is dgx valves/manifold quality?
Thanks

DGX is awesome.

I'd doubt you'd notice any real difference though. I went through this year's ago thinking short necks would be better. The general consensus that I got was that it was slightly easier to reach the long neck valves. That's what I have and they're great.

How hard is it to find someone to service dgx valves? The website says there are internal differences between dgx premium and thermo valves. It mentions the bonnet nut seal but not much else. Most of my tanks are thermo and I already have spare parts for them. Are the parts interchangeable?

Nevermind I answered my own question.

Are DGX, Dive Rite, Thermo, and XS Scuba modular valves compatible with each other?
No compatibility testing has been performed by the different manufacturers and neither Dive Gear Express, Dive Rite, nor XS Scuba (who also supplies the Thermo brand) recommend mixing components from different brands of valve modules. However, our customers tell us these valves have similar modular port threads and we have no reports of problems with crossbars, H-adapters and port plugs in that regard. The DIN-to-yoke adapter inserts along with the standard knobs, but not the Vindicator or XS Safety knobs, should be interchangeable without issues. Beyond cosmetics, we can also say for certain that some other internal parts of all four brands do have slight differences and are not interchangeable

That’s curious because I’ve heard the opposite - that the long neck valves actually put the valve knob further away. Not trying to be a contrarian or claim I have “the answer”…just sharing info.

I think the one safe answer is to try both to make a personalized choice.

I have both a long neck and a short neck manifold group. I’ve found valve drills easier on my short neck manifold than I recall with my otger twinset BUT that could be because I’ve been diving with my waist belt a little looser than in the past. I haven’t dived my long neck twinset in a while so I get to put my money where my mouth is next time I dive that rig.
