I've done Roatan before, loved the dive sites. Considering CCV for the shore diving but my concern is the season. I would go next week. Last time in the off season I lost out on many dive days due to weather.

If the weather is bad am I screwed even for diving their yard? Will they prohibit diving? What do they do to make up for it? How's the weather mid october?

Also if anyone wants to toss advice out there my only other possibility is Turks but on short notice it seems hard to arrange and pretty expensive.

I am pretty sure this is the rainy season for Roatan which can really hurt the viz. I was just there the last two weeks of September and we had quite a few rainy days. It didn't limit our dive trips, but the viz was less than what i would call normal for quite a few days. I can't speak to Coco as I have never stayed there.

... decided not to post my comment's about the resort making up for related weather issues.

Spent last week at CCV and out of the seven days there were only three clear days others were cloudy. Most of the rain was in the evenings but on a couple of occassions there was a good rain while out on the boat. The water was still warm and the seas were flat or maybe 1-2' swells.
Unless the swells are pretty bad they will take the boats out. CCV has a condition rating (1-3) which details which level of diver should dive in what conditions and when the boat stays at the dock.

The weather did reduce vis some out on the reefs. Where we really noticed it was when doing the drop off dives on CoCo View and Newmans wall. The closer we were getting to the Prince Albert the less vis you had. One day it was like diving at home, only warmer.

Wanted to make more night dives but the vis on the PA curbed my enthusiasim. Still had a great time. Go and enjoy.

Great! Thanks Scott.

I'd be happy with those conditions.
