Or you could get one of these: Witz Dry Case. $6.95. In four years it hasn't leaked once. I lube it occasionally with o-ring grease.

Do you know what an exact O-ring size is. I have two cases.... It was immediately soaked after hitting the water. It was an O-ring problem. So, I moved to the otter box after then.

Advertised as "water resistant" and $6.95? For a $200 key (and I know my boss' Porsche key is over $800, not that you'd dive from it) I'd rather trust something more beefy.

No, I've never removed mine - maybe that's why it never leaked...ask Witz. http://www.witzprod.com/index.php

Oh~~~...

I have used mine more than two years at the depth up to 160 ft. It hasn't failed me once. I used to put this small box in my dry suit pocket... I can't find any failure points unless you accidently open it in UW.

Glad that has worked for you.

I'd rather not risk it. Nor do I wish to dive with an air bubble in my pocket, however, and risk my key shooting to the surface should the pocket open.

Guaranteed not to leak at any depth... because you don't take it to depth. Of course, if you roll your car into the bay, all bets are off. ;)

I would too. Mine works for the Rental car/condo keys, a credit card, C-Card and a couple of 20's. I don't prefer to leave it all onshore. And I don't do any shorediving locally here in the "all beach no water" state.

Seems to me like the best solution is a copy of the door key w/o the fancy electronics. As mentioned previously, Home Depot makes them. Or you could pay $75 for the hitch option - assuming you have a hitch.

I agree... if you have the option, a plain, non-electronic key on a necklace around your neck is probably best. I don't think all cars have that option, however. Lower end cars tend to that have option (or plain keys to begin with), while luxury cars tend not to. Ironic.

Edit:

Oops, should've read it better - combination being the operative word.

It looks like I am a darn lucky.... I hope it lasts long. ;)

For some reason I couldn't help reading the subject line of this post in Julie Andrews voice!

Shore dives and car keys and whiskers on kittens
Tank valves and S-drills and warm neoprene mittens
Blue H's on webbing and back plates and wings
These are a few of my favorite things!

Black colored mask skirts and seven foot hoses
Dive slates and milk crates and purge-valveless noses
Catch bags with lobsters and pole spears with slings
These are a few of my favorite things!

PADI and NAUI and bolt snaps and booties
Tank fills and dive boats and lift bags and scooters
Spring straps on Jet fins and lights clipped to D-rings
These are a few of my favorite things!

I wonder if Fraulein Maria was DIR?
