Hello. I am BRAND NEW to diving (i.e. I have just been certified last weekend and haven't even gotten my gear yet). I am looking for places along the east coast where I can shore dive.

North Carlolina?
Key Largo? I have been told there is great diving here but can't afford both boat fees and new equipment. Can you do any good shore diving here?

Thanks for any input folks have.

If you don't mind colder water there is some recommendable shore diving off NJ, most notably the Shark River Inlet in Monmouth County. You have to catch it at the right tide. Scout around for dive shops in the area that can help you out, perhaps hook you up with a knowledgeable buddy.

As far as NC, I'm sure there is but I would contact a local dive shop in the area.

The Ft. Lauderdale area has lots of shore diving.
