Bringing the family to Destin area for Memorial weekend. Anyone up for some shore diving in the area? Destin jetties look good for early am dives, high tides around 8ish.

Would also like to check out the new Portofino site in P'cola Beach. Is the rubble by the pier uncovered? What is the status of Ft Pickens jetties?

Let me know when/where you'll be and I'll try to make it. I dove Portofino last week at except for a few small spades and crabs it was lifless still, although the growth has started, maybe it'll be good in a month or so. Ft. Pickens Jettie is awesome right now, but I can't speak to the status of The pier rubble at P'Cola Beach.

The Destin Jetty has been good the last 2 weeks, lots of sea life. I'll be in the keys that week (Memorial weekend) so I won't be able to dive with you. As stated above , pickens has been good lately too. If St Andrews jetty is dive-able by then I'd suggest you dive there too. Dive safe.

Pickens sounds good. Main reason I mentioned the beach sites is less affected by the tides so they can be done when jetties can't. I'll check the tides closer next week. I recall East Pass being around 8ish and imagine Pickens will be +/- 30 minutes? I've usually been able to get in two dives as Destin jetties but not sure how long Pickens stays slack. Will pm my cell.

Reef, we will be camping at Fort Pickens that weekend and was thinking about diving the Jetties there on Sunday morning. Let me know if your interested and maybe we can dive together. I sent MRXRAY an IM and he is considering it if he isn't tied up with DM work.

We also have a charter boat going out for a 2 tank inshore trip on Friday morning if your interested in that.

Still planning on these dives.

Saturday morning at the Destin jetties - high tide 8:07am (East Pass)

Sunday morning at Pickens jetties - high tide 7:33am (Pensacola Bay)

Anyone interested?

I guess everyone went somewhere else. Me and Mr Pony had a nice 90 minute dive at Destin. 20 foot viz. Warm water.

Pickens tomorrow

Sounds like we are diving just the opposite of you. We dove Ft. Pickens Today (Saturday) 10 feet of viz and we will dive Destin tomorrow. Glad to hear Destin sounds a bit better than Ft. Pickens.

Not having dived pickens before I decided not to solo it until I know the site so I went back to Destin. Still missed mrxray although I think thats who I waved to while tying in my flag. Conditions as good or slightly better than yesterday. Good times.
