You must always carry a flag. The one time you don't, the cops will be there just as you are getting in and you could get a fine.

Don't take fish/shellfish unless you have a license and know the laws (www.mass.gov/marinefisheries).

I believe you can dive anywhere unless specifically posted. There are a lot of good sites up on Cape Ann.

I know some sites bann night diving like Old Garden beach.

Well...there is a sign, but it's not a legal distinction. I night dive there all the time. The locals don't even care.

The only place I know where you can't dive at a specific time is Nubble Light in Maine. You can't dive on Sunday.
