Drift dive is fun but really have to pay attention to the fine detail mentioned on pre-dive briefing.
If it is a guided dive than make sure stay way back from the guide and keep close contact with the buddy. Gloves(if allowed) could be useful to grab hold on the rock(not coral).

No easy solution because we are all individual and react differently under stress.
