Don't know the area but I'd be interested in a dive buddy for this weekend also. I'm coming from Ottawa and wouldn't mind hitting Kingston and NTD.

I've heard Kingston is a great dive town...but haven't been diving there yet. I was down there a few weeks ago picking up my son and stopped in at NTD and bought a great compass. I was in Brockville three weeks ago. We stayed and dove out of the Riverside Dive Resort. Great place! Brockville is a cool dive town. Had supper at The Keystorm and chatted about diving with the waitter and waitress. There was a rib-fest happening in town as well that weekend. Let me know how your diving in Kingston goes. I think I'm going to try and get to the St. Lawrence quite a bit next summer. 3 hours from where I am...not bad at all.

What about shore diving in Brockville?

Does it even exist?

Or are you expected to jump the marina break wall and swim to the Gaskin as a shore dive?

The only shore dives in Brockville are the Blockhouse Island bay off the old boat ramp near the train tunnel and from the steps in Centene Park. Not much to see in either site. Pretty much all other shore acess is from private property.

Some enterprising souls do dive the Gaskin from shore, but it is considered an overhead dive since you cannot surface with all the boat traffic, plus, the current makes for poor gas consumption and a nasty surface swim. I won't do it without double tanks and a scooter. Definitely not a single tank dive.

Hey Sweetie,

Matt and I are going to be in Brockville this weekend. If you would like I can check and we can do a shore dive with you there. Let me know and we will see what we can arrange.

What he said.

Well maybe without a scooter, but redundancy would be a must.

On a lighter note - if you go far enough off the steps of Centeen Park, there's a humungous (I know it's not really a word) culvert containing about a Zillion fish.
