OK, so after doing the Nasaline About Nasaline and feeling great, I got a little lax and a little cocky. I was only doing it once a week or so and the BAM! POW! KA-BOOM! I got a sinus infection last week.

My track record with sinus infections isn’t good and I am usually sick for two or three months before I clear them and have to take a few rounds of antibiotics. By the time the infection is gone I am so run down from the antibiotics that is take a few more weeks to feel normal and good again.

Well last Wednesday December the 12th, I started feeling iffy. I went to bed early. I had been tired earlier in the week and went to bed early a couple of time. But Wednesday I knew that something wasn’t feeling right and by Thursday I knew for sure that I had a sinus infection---AGAIN!

So this time instead of going to the doc I decided to see if I could use the Nasaline with sea salt to clear the infection. I also took 1000mg of ester-c 3 times daily and 4 Kwai Garlic tablets 3 times daily 12 total. I also took some Advil cold and sinus to help dry of the drainage as needed. And then I flushed my nose out 4-6 times a day with nothing but Mortons sea salt and luke warm water. Anytime I woke up in the night I flushed out my nose.

Well it is now Monday December 17 and I am almost over it in just 5 days with no antibiotics and no trip to the doc. I am still having a little drainage, but things are quickly getting back to normal. I have gone through a few boxes of Puffs with lotion and my nose is a little tender. The salt makes it run a bit more as it is clearing out the junk.

I think I had kept up with my daily rinsing that I wouldn’t have gotten sick. However once I got sick the stepped up rinsing really did the trick. I will be certain to not be complacent about my rinsing again! I have never gotten over a sinus infection so quickly and it didn't take its toll on my in the first few days like it usually does.

My loved ones will are getting Nasalines for Christmas. I went out and purchased them tonight. They will probably give me a hard time like the did the year I purchased everyone multiple battery operated water proof floating lanterns, but now when the power goes out I am the family hero. When the get sick they will see what a great gift this really is. I believe in giving practical gifts. What could be more practical than giving something that really does aid in healing!

I read this post and thought I'd give it a try. After two weeks of using, I'm marginally better. Just went in today for a ct scan of the noggin. Doc thinks deviated septum or polyp. Will know more when he sees the ct in a couple of weeks. Going on a trip in feb to do some serious diving. Surgery will not be an option for me until after I return.
Question: Do you all use distilled water or tap water?

Question: Do you all use distilled water or tap water?

Tap. No issues. Works great.

I use tap water too. Some folks say that the tap water bothers them, but I haven't had any issues with it.

I use distilled, but I also drink distilled water since our tap water is nasty (we get notices from the city monthly telling us that x many people will get such and such cancer from it...so if I'm not drinking it I'm sure not going to put it up my nose).

I use and love NeilMed Sinus Rinse. I have not had any sinus infections since I started using this in the sping.
I have never had a sinus infection in my life... but I use this stuff as prescribed by my ENT (for polyps) along with flonaze (sp).

Anyway I agree the NeilMed Sinus Rinse works really well.

I had Balloon Sinuplasty in June, which didn't work. In October I had a FESS on the left lower maxillary sinus. I use the NeilMed Sinus Rinse as needed. Was just cleared to dive again this week. So far, so good.

I am anxious to see how the winter season treats my sinuses since I have had chronic sinusitis for many years. The infections really didn't go away, just stayed at bay long enough for another to set in and become full blown. Antiobiotics didn't do anything either, just masked the real issue.

Good luck using the salt water rinses, they really seem to help.

Got the phone call from my doc, in his words: Your sinuses are in a bad way. Going to see ENT after x-mas. News not good....major sinus problems (chronic sinusitus). I'll keep using the saltwater as it does provide some relief.
