I haven't seen an insert from the box--that stops in the "medic's" hands. I did see some reference from the CDC that a second dose in "two to six" months is suggested for people over age 50 in the US. I'll have to look at that further on the CDC web site. (Sometimes the Canadians know better, but here in the US, the pharmacy and the insurer and everyone else will want to follow CDC guidelines.)

I had not heard of this vaccine? Can it be used on someone (e.g. me) that has had shingles before (years ago)?

Glad I’m not the only one with this reaction. Just found out that a friend was literally bedridden for a day after the shot. Not planning to dive for a week following 2nd shot.

I had to pick up the vaccine at the pharmacy and take it to the Dr.'s office for injection. I opened the box and took the insert. :)

So it says, we will see. I have had shingles, my husband has not. It has only been a week or so since we got our first Shingrix shots.

Tridacna you are not alone!

I got everything done at CVS. Vaccine and shot. Now I have to convince Mrs Clam to get the vaccine. She saw my reaction and that cooled her enthusiasm.

I think you were wise to take it to the Dr (even if you had no choice) Down here in the 'lower 48' Provinces, Pharmacists give really crappy shots

Search on "CDC Shingrix" and the first hit should be the CDC guidelines page. They say that even if you have already had shingles, that this vaccine will significantly reduce the recurrence of attacks. Even if you have had the Zostervax previously. And...that significant number of folks (regardless of prior history) are going to have a sore or painful arm for several days afterward. Nothing that would prevent using the arm--but then again, there's nothing to prevent you from firewalking either, if you really make up your mind to. (No thanks.)

You want shingles? No, then get the danged vaccine. I can promise you shingles hurt a heck of a lot more!

I had significant weakness in my left leg. 10 PT sessions. I’ll find out tomorrow how I do climbing a boat ladder (2 Lake Michigan charters).

My doc wants me to get the new vaccine next March which be a year since shingles.
