We are contemplating the purchase of 2 new computers and read some very good things about the Wisdom, however, I'd like to get some feedback from anyone who has first hand experience with it. Any comments both positive or negative would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Greer

I've had my Wisdom for two years and recently completed my 101st dive with it. I'm very happy with it and haven't had a single problem. That being said, if you do a search on this board you will find that some people have had issues with it. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me.

I have a Wisdom, and I have had no problems with it at all. The software that comes with it is pretty neat. If you have any questions, feel free to email me, I'll do the best I can to answer (I'm still learning everything this computer does....)
That being said, I am a fairly new diver so I'm not sure how much my opinion is worth!

I have used a Wisdom for the last 3 or 4 seasons. My first one died after about 80 dives and the second one died after about 150. My third one is still going strong, so I suspect the reliability issues have been resolved. In each case Sherwood replaced each one under warranty with no questions asked and the dealer did in the spot in shop exhanges for new ones. Each new one also came with a full 2 year warranty, so you are covered all over again with the new replacement. Really super customer service - unlike the very slow service from Scubapro/Uwatec on their computer recall.

It has air, nitrox and gauge modes and handles altitude divng very well. The Computer is quite liberal but it has tissue loading bar graphs so the user can dive it more conservatively by surfacing in the low end of the yellow or in the gree rather than pushing it all the way to the NDL.

Download software is available and is fairly good, altough a depth averaging SAC computation feature would be a nice improvement.

The display is very large and easy to read and it is very intuitive to operate. It has lots of audible and visual alarms and you can turn them all off if you prefer.

It is compact even with the compass module and the SPG reads in 10 psi increments and has proven to be very accurate.

It is also available with a quick disconnect, which is a nice feature for downloading, travel etc.

I have a wisdom, bought it last July 2004. I have had no problems with it. I am very happy with it.

Howdy, I've had my wisdom for 15 Dives now. Air integrated is really nice. You can set alarms for various situations. Depth, accent rate, half tank pressure, Final tank pressure. I like it so far, and have had no problems. Quick disconnect is quite nice too. Large display and not as conservitive at the Suuntos!!I like that since I'm healthy! Anyway, good luck, and get a wisdom!

This will be the beginning of my third year with my Quick Detachable Wisdom, and other than popping one O ring, I have had no problems with it in the 100+ dives I've used it on. The battery doesn't seem to last as long as I would like, but I think that may be due to the length of time the computer stays on when I go on a trip - figuring the "FLY SAT", it stays on 24/7 for sometimes a week or more at a time. After I did the math, the life of the battery seems about right. I now change it once a year, before the busiest diving season starts. I like the QD feature, and the owner replaceable battery. It's easy to read and easy to navigate throught the functions. I would like a hose that is a bit longer to allow easier use of the compass.

When Sherwood first introduced the Wisdom I sumitted comments in regtard to the HP hose needing to be a couple inches longer. They seemed open to the idea at the time and follwed up with questions about my specific configuration but it does not seem to have come to anything.

Battery life is good considering the no fly calculations and down load demands. But what I like the most is that if you swap the old and new batteries within something like 10-20 seconds (easy to do), it preserves all the nitrogen and O2 calulations so you can swap batteries mid trip or even mid diving day.

I'm sure you are aware of this since it has been pointed out in various threads... but the Wisdom is actually and Aeris AI computer turned sidewise.... but made in Oakland Ca by the Oceanic/Aeris guys. While we also sell the Sherwood for those who prefer that foot print, I normally prefer selling the Aeris due to the fact in the unlikely event there ever is a problem, we ship the unit back and forth directly with aeris. Wish a sherwood, we ship it to sherwood, who ships to aeris, who fixes it, then back to sherwood, then back to me, and finally the customer gets it.

That's one of the reasons, when given the option, I'd rather deal with the company that manufactures something, instead of the re-branding company.

Actually, as our LDS doesn't deal in Sherwood, I did not know this about the Wisdom. We used to sell many Aeris computers at the LDS until the battery life issues started popping up. Most of the people using the Suunto's have not yet changed the battery. The battery is still going strong by the time the service comes up. I have seen the Aeries computers have battery issues while at dive sites.

Sounds like the Aeries has this fixed judging by the other posts in this thread. Personally, I use different brands of dive computers, but I hear good about this one (either company, LOL).
