I'm thinking about getting the Sherwood Wisdom, but I've heard that the computer software isn't that great? I would appreciate any info from those that have used it! Also, has anybody heard of any updates in the works?

It has a bug or two in it, but nothing serious. The biggest ommission is the lack of some type of depth averaging capability which would allow SAC rate calculations. Otherwise it's fine.

So far no word on an update.

How is the program interface? Does it even look like a up to date program, or is it pretty simple? Thanks Aquamater for the reply!!

The interface is ok, uses a USB port and essentially auto runs when you attach the computer and turn it on.

The program itself is a better than my old Matrix Master's software, but you can definitely see some similarities in the graphs and detail displays.

Bug wise, I have noted that if I try to view the details on too mnay dives or edit the information on too many dives (add buddies, site name, etc) at one sitting, it will sart inserting it's own information and prompt you to save it. Exiting the program without saving preserves your data, but exitring and re-entering the program is still a bit of a pain. If I get seriously behind in updating the details on my dives and have several dives to do, I will often just do it directly in the database and skip doing it in the program.

there link to on of my first dives... so this is what it looks like on the print outs..
realy the only thing i wish it showed was average depth

i switched mine out to the cobra.. my mom got my wisdome because she is old and cant see any more and has a huge screen :)

i got 2 wisdoms data and downloaded an this computer so its cool only on kit for 2 divers...
worth they buy i would say

How would you compare the Cobra and the Wisdom? I just got the Wisdom, and it seams to be working fine. Would you suggest getting the software, or just logging the dives manually? Last question, is the Wisdom more liberal than the cobra...thats whay I have heard!

Another bug I would like to report is that if you are manually logging dives (for example, a few dives before you got your Wisdom, or a dive where you didn't have your computer for some reason), it puts the depth in at 91 feet (or maybe your default max depth) no matter what.

It is just an Access database, but an old one. I tried to go into Access to modify these depths, but it won't let me change anything with Access 2000 without converting the database, at which time the Wisdom program won't be able to read it any more.

I am really surprised that no one has made another program that will let you import/view Wisdom data with a better interface. Aren't there any other computer geeks out there who are divers? (or all we all too busy diving or dreaming about diving to be programming)?
