kemarm:
I just bought the Wisdom and for the life of me I can't figure out how to put it into Dive Mode. Can some one please give me a tip. The manual on pg 70 starts out with "During Dive Modes" and skips the part on how the hell to get to them.
Much thanks!
After you turn it on and it runs though it's countdown and diagnostics, it will be where it needs to be and will go into dive mode in the water. The only thing you may want to do before you dive is set it for nitrox or gauge mode rather than the air mode. This is done on the first page of the set menu.

Here are the issues. Are there any real advantages to having the pressure / air usage information on the computer as opposed to an analog gauge? If so, what are the issues with using a hoseless transmitter type wrist mount computer?
Air integration is nice in terms of giving you an estimate of air time remaining, but if you are an experienced diver, you pretty much know how much time you have left with a given amount of air at a given depth anyway. So it's value depends a lot on your experience level.
On the other hand, where an air integrated SPG really shines is in being able to figure your sac rate across an entire dive. The Wisdom's stock download software does not really do this for you but the Wisdom does store the neccesary data in the database and this information can be imported into other programs that will do it for you.
An analog SPG is more reliable, but if an air integrated computer SPG fails it is not a big deal as you should be monitorung your air regularly and be able to estimate what you have left. If you can't do that, the diver problem is a lot bigger than the equipment problem.
Hoseless computers/SPG's increase the potential for failure in that both the transmitter and receiver can experiecne problems, dead batteries, etc. But again, if you are properly planning and monitoring the situation, you should be able to safely abort the dive after the SPG fails, so the largest potential downside is more aborted dives.
