Oasis, blizzaard, and maximus all have the moisture retention to help prevent dry mouth brut and magnum do not.

Oasis and blizzard are essentially same with blizzard having some silicon coated parts to help prevent freeze up.

The sherwood has a unique dry air bleed system that will help to keep sand out of your reg so it sounds like that would be a plus.

As a point of reference I got a new old stock sherwood oasis with octo and console for 290 on ebay. Just saw a slightly used oasis go for 150.

Sherwood has the benefit of being cheap to maintain compared to everything else.

If you want adjustable on the fly reg go for the maximus otherwise I would go blizzard or oasis depending on what deal I find.

Thanks for the replys, I actually read a couple other threads that made it sound like the Maximus would work well in cold also along with your replies to this thread and was I was able to pick up a un-used Maximus on ebay for under $300 (hope thats a good deal, sure seemed like it looking at other prices).

I have one other question, thats probably a newbie question, but....
I have a Scubapro nighthawk BC, with an Air2 that I was planning on using as my backup air source... are there any issues connecting the Air2 to the Sherwood 1st stage?

Thanks again!

No problem, as long as you have a hose with the proper connection for the Air2.

I'm thinking about buying used, so I'm assuming that will void any warranty with Sherwood... Does anyone know what it costs to get one serviced/rebuilt without a warranty vs with one?
It sounds like Sherwood can go a while without being rebuilt, is that right?
Also does Sherwood provide rebuild kits for their regs to the public (I read somewhere that Zeagle does this)?

Thanks,
-Joe

The last time I had a reg rebuilt (approx 2 years ago) it cost $65, including parts. Rebuild parts for a sherwood cost about $15-20 so if my sherwood was still under warranty it would have cost $45-$50
Sherwood will NOT sell you the parts, but they are fairly easy to buy online for various dealers.

FWIW My LDS offers a Tech equipment maintenance class. Once you've taken the class he will sell you the parts and let you do your own maintenance, he'll even let you use his tools.
You might check and see if your LDS offers something similar.
