I'm looking to purchase a back-inflation BC to wear with my dry suit. My LDS carries the Sherwood brand and has provided me with great service and great pricing whenever I buy equipment from them (as good if not better than interent pricing). Having said that, I'm looking at the Sherwood Outback that my LDS carries and/or the Zeagle Ranger LTD carried by a well known SCUBA equipment dealer on the web (not LP). I've heard great things about the Zeagle, more good info. on the Zeagle than the Sherwood. So my question is, do I buy the Sherwood from my LDS since I get great service and pricing or is the Zeagle that much better of a BC that I should buy it on the internet? Thanks

Glenn,

I can't comment on anything but the Zeagle. I purchased a Ranger with a few added options but is not the LTD. I love the fit and comfort of the design as I came out of a jacket style to the back inflate style of the Zeagle. I don't know what kind of diving you are progressing to but if I had to do it over I would go B/P and wing. But I am not dissatisfied with the purchase of my Zeagle. I use mine with a Mobby's dry suit and various wet suits. As I procede in my toward tech. I will use the Zeagle just for OW. I hope this helps.

I have the Genesis Recon, basically the same BC as the Outback, and goes for about 360 at LP. I love the BC and a buddy who has the Outback likes the inflator hose with the clips better on mine. It is built for the Akona Quick Clip systems which is great for the shoulder and waist mounted retractors.

I haven't found any problems with my Recon yet, and would recommend to anyone purchasing a BC.

Another nod for the Zeagle, great products, you will have no regrets...although I'm sure someone will start with the bp and wings...lol

actually I will say both are great BC's Can't go wrong with either but I would try Backplate and wings.
