Hello,
I have a Sherwood InSight computer and I have been looking at getting a data cable for it. $90+ seems like a lot for a simple data cable, so I was toying with the idea of trying to make one. I was wondering if anyone had a pinout for the cable or computer connector?
It looks like the cable is just USB connector with a USB to serial converter, and the end has a 3 contact connector (presumably 2 data contacts and a 5v or ground sense?). If anyone is willing to take a reading with a multimeter it would certainly help me a lot.
I appreciate any information anyone has, and I just want to say that I am not doing this just to save money. I enjoy electronics projects so any opportunity to have some fun figuring out a problem and saving money in the process is a win-win for me. Obviously I do not want to fry my computer so I will only be attempting to do this if I can get adequate information and feel like I can do it safely.
Again, any information would help a lot! Thanks!
