Does Shearwater do there own repairs or do they use a 3rd party company. I seem to remember there was a 3rd party who refurbished them.. and repaired them. Any info welcome.

They have lots of authorised people who repair. I had to send mine to NZ from Japan for repair.

Anyone know the turn around time for a battery change? I'm past the 5 year mark and probably due but have trip coming up at the end of the month.

That is not exactly correct.
Dive-Tronix is still doing all repairs for the U.S., including warranty repairs. But, they are no longer providing any customer service for Shearwater.
I.e. if you need a loaner or a new charger or screen protector or something like that, you need to email Shearwater, not Dive-Tronix. But, when you send your computer in to be repaired, you'll still send it to Dive-Tronix.
