Geez, OP won’t even address if he bought it in person or online.

Sorry, you referred to it as a "smudge." I interpreted that as not a defect that affects functionality. My thinking is that if you told Shearwater it's a "smudge," they too might be unsure what you're referring to. I suppose if the defect makes it difficult to read the screen, it blurs the line (ha ha) between a cosmetic and functional defect. Regardless, I am not disputing that even a cosmetic defect should not be present in a brand-new out-of-the-box computer. How do you know it is cosmetic?. . . .

this gives me pause... again, looks like a drop "delaminated" the screen (but I know nothing of the screens, so my term may be inaccurate)...
Demo center? What do you mean by “demo” center? That would raise a flag to me. Did you pick it up in person and, if so, why did you not check it before you accepted it and left the store?I bought it from one of the Authorized Demo Centre stores listed in SW website. I will not mention their name because I don’t think it is their fault.

Check out Shearwater’s website. As far as I could see, every dive shop that sells Shearwater products appears to have a “Demo Centre” tag. I think it may simply be their term for what is more commonly called an authorized dealer.Demo center? What do you mean by “demo” center? That would raise a flag to me. Regardless - I’d be getting a replacement from the store I bought it from first!

I was giving him the benefit of doubt...I think the OP is being ridiculous
