Hi everyone,

Just broke the surgical tubing wrist strap. Looking for replacing it but wonder what is better, surgical tube or bungee elastic shock cord?

Any any uk manufacturer/shop recommended? Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Ale

Surgical tubing like IV lines? 1st time I hear of that but quite genius actually
Haven’t tried the shock cord bungees also so can’t weigh in
Normal bungee vs IV line/surgical tubing I’d go with the surgical tubing (might start doing that now already)

I use the shock cord bungees. It will work just the same as the surgical tubing, but perhaps give a bit more warning before breaking. As there are multiple stretchy cords in the center, if a couple break, it will get weaker, but not go all at once. With the surgical tubing, a small nick can spread quickly.

I never even bothered to use the surgical tubing. I had already been using bungee on a previous DC, so just went that route.

Surgical tubing that comes along when I bought mine, not exactly sure what it's called but been using it for 7+ years which actually I quite like it.

Maybe that's why shearwater no longer include it, I just not prefer to buckle strap.

I tried the surgical tubing that came with my Perdix but I didn't really like it and the knots didn't seem like they wanted to stay tied. Went with some 3/16" (or maybe it's 4mm) bungee that I found at a boating supply shop. That they had it in light blue that matches Shearwater's light blue was a bonus.

You might want to correct the title--I assume you meant to say "Perdix".
Arrrrrh, not aware that, yeah but how? Cheers.

I recently got a new Peregrine tx. It came with a comically short wrist strap and a length of bungee
