There is talk about a death at Shaw's Cove last weekend, but absolutely nothing reported about it anywhere. From what I heard, a diver that was part of a buddy team surfaced about 30-40 min into his dive in distressed, dropped weights, and somehow died. Anybody know anything?

Diver apparently drowned at Shaw’s Cove Saturday

An unnamed 33-year-old San Clemente man was an apparent drowning victim at Shaw’s Cove Saturday night.

Police, fire and lifeguards were summoned to the beach at 7:19 Saturday night after a team of recreational divers came across an unresponsive man lying on the beach after they had left the water. They performed CPR until authorities arrived.

The man was not a part of the dive team but police said he had a dive mask.

Paramedics transported the man to Mission Hospital where he was pronounced dead within an hour.

The man’s name will not be released until the coroner completes an autopsy sometime Tuesday.

They came across a man lying on the beach...weird. Was he diving solo? Was he diving at all?
